sweet midsummer

The magical light, the children laughing and singing, a healthy and hearty vegetarian lunch made by our lovely neighbours followed by fika outdoors with the heavy clouds above us. In the evening we are at our place making fresh grilled potatoes  with sundried tomatoes and feta for starters and then grilled pizzas with mushrooms, kale, spring onions, fresh herbs and lots of cheese. Under the clear blue sky. A glass of Bourgogne Pinot noir. Or two. It’s getting chilly and we’re moving in, enjoying almond cake with elder flower cream, rhubarb from the garden and strawberries from a local farmer. A sweet sparkling Muscat and a cup of strong coffee and conversations about Brexit and gardening until the clock ticks midnight.
